The same procedure as last year!
Every year, a composer is awarded Stim's Atterberg Prize. The award carries Kurt Atterberg’s name in recognition of the important part he played as a founder of Stim, the Swedish Performing Rights Society, in 1923 and as its chairman for the first few decades. Kurt Atterberg was also involved in setting up the Association of Swedish Composers back in 1918. He was born on 12 December 1887, the date on or near which the prize is now awarded. Kurt Atterberg died in 1974, and the prize was inaugurated in his memory.
This year's Atterberg Prize is awarded to composer and lyricist Ulla-Carin Nyquist for the passion and apparently boundless energy that she has put into championing composers on the cultural-political arena, above all within Stim, for almost the past twenty years.
The award ceremony took place on 11 December at Stim. The occasion also saw the presentation of Stim's Author's Award to Ingemar von Heine for "his life-long work educating the public about art music on Swedish Radio, and for his book on Lars Johan Werle, part of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music’s series on Swedish composers."
