 The Council of Nordic Composers proudly announces that Swedish ensemble Pärlor för svin/The peärls before swïne experience will be the 2010 recipient of the council's prize for the advancement of contemporary Nordic classical, electro acoustic and art music. The prize will be awarded during the festival Nordic Music Days, September 8-11 in Copenhagen. The peärls before swïne experience consists of Sara Hammarström, flutes, George Kentros, violin, Mats Olofsson, cello and Mårten Landström, piano.
”The peärls before swïne experience is a Swedish ensemble for contemporary music, that has commissioned and performed more than 90 works, mostly by Nordic composers, since it was founded in 1995. With extensive concert and tour activities The peärls before swïne experience contribute to spreading the contemporary Nordic music all over the world, to a high degree. They put great emphasis on how the music is presented and how to reach the audience, by arranging fun and welcoming concerts, always with short pieces, creating a mix with contrasting music that enhance and sharpen the concert experience. The peärls before swïne experience work with different concepts to explore the concert and create a dialogue between the music and its surroundings. Impressing with their work, reviews and prizes, their remarkable presence put an edge on the contemporary Nordic music life.”
The Nordic Music Days 2010 festival programme will be published on the 28th of May at www.nordicmusicdays2010.org and simultaneously presented in Bergen by artistic director Peter Bruun.
