Rock and roll isn’t what it used to be. Pretty much anyone with ears can tell you that. It’s no longer just “rock and roll.” It’s the “old stuff” and the “new stuff.”
The new stuff and the classic stuff bear little resemblance to one another and, as time moves on, it’s becoming increasingly harder to find an outlet for the oldies. The best I could do, since I can’t afford satellite radio, was resort to the TV. If you have a provider like http://www.direct2tv.com, then you can often find hundreds of music channels including classic rock.
Some people like the radical new direction that rock has taken while those old enough to remember the classics are absolutely disgusted. The fans are so polarized between their love of the old and the new that it eventually gave rise to something called Chickenfoot.
Chickenfoot is a classic rock band started in 2008 featuring Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith. It’s pretty much a who’s who of real deal rockers and the “old guys’” answer to the newcomers.
For five years, now, they have been going strong blending bits of the new with their classic styling. Reminding the kids what real rock is all about.
